Polish Constitutional Tribunal crisis involving Karol Nawrocki and Donald Tusk

Polish President Turns Plane Around, Defies Police Amid Leftist Coup

Poland’s political and constitutional crisis took a dramatic turn in Warsaw after President Karol Nawrocki reportedly turned his presidential plane around over Spain and flew back to Poland. He then made his way through police lines outside the Constitutional Tribunal and entered the country’s highest constitutional court.

The dispute centers on a move by Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, who is described in the report as aligned with Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government. She announced the suspension of Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy, while claiming interim control of the institution.

The Tribunal’s existing leadership and the right-wing opposition, including Law and Justice, rejected the move and called it a coup d’état. Critics, including lawyers quoted in Polish media such as Rzeczpospolita, argued that the decision had no clear legal basis. Their position was that the proper procedure for suspending the Tribunal’s president belongs to the General Assembly of Tribunal judges, not to a single judge acting alone.

That legal argument is the heart of the confrontation. Constitutional law is apparently being treated like a clipboard in a chaotic group project, whoever grabs it first claims to be in charge. Critics say the ordinary-courts provision cited in the dispute does not cleanly transfer to the Constitutional Tribunal, making the attempted leadership change even more controversial.

Nawrocki’s arrival turned the legal fight into a very public political showdown. According to the report, he pushed through the police presence and went inside the Tribunal rather than watching the institution’s authority disappear from a safe distance. He reportedly told the judges, “You are not judges of the Constitutional Tribunal!”

The report says Tusk’s camp attempted to declare the Tribunal’s leadership “suspended” and sent police to the building. Nawrocki’s decision to return and enter the court was presented as a direct challenge to that action, with supporters portraying the elected president as defending Poland’s constitutional order.

Outside the Tribunal, demonstrators sang “Rota,” a historic Polish patriotic anthem. One social media post described the crowd’s message as “So help us God!” The scene was framed as a public rejection of the government’s attempt to change control of the court through what critics say was an improper procedure.

Another video from Warsaw was described as showing the biggest crisis in Poland since the 1981 uprising. The source material does not hide the political stakes, presenting the standoff as a test of whether constitutional institutions can be reshaped by administrative force, police presence, or a disputed judicial announcement.

MP Pawel Jablonski appealed to an international audience with this warning: “Dear friends, watch our country. We have great tradition, we are faithful to our families, to our values, to our faith, but there are people that want to take it away from us – there is a government, that is planning to illegally take over the Constitutional Court. We are defending freedom. What is happening in Poland tonight, may soon be happening also in other countries – this left-wing liberal globalists, they want to do it the same in France in Italy, in USA, in the UK in Germany – all across the world, so please, remain with us, stay with us. We will prevail.”

The article also connected the Polish confrontation to American politics, arguing that Democrats could attempt similar institutional maneuvers if they won the next midterm elections. That is a political warning from the source, not a reported event in the United States, but it explains why the Poland footage is being circulated as a cautionary example.

Additional updates and commentary from Jack Posobiec, D. Tarczynski, and Anna Krukowska were included in the continuing coverage of the confrontation.
