We have to be honest with ourselves that shooting have certainly increased over the last few decades, and this is certainly true with shootings at schools and churches. This weekend another church shooting took place, but this church is a lot more well-known. It took place at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, which is presided over by the renowned pastor Joel Osteen. The incident, which unfolded between services, resulted in the death of a female shooter, critical injuries to a child, and a man being hit in the leg.
According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, the shooter, armed with a long rifle and wearing a trench coat, appeared at the church’s door just before 2 p.m. and began firing. Two off-duty officers who were on security duty quickly responded, firing back and ultimately killing the attacker. The shooter was accompanied by a small child, adding an additional layer of complexity to the situation.
