Things Just Got VERY Serious with James Comey’s Veiled Threat

Former FBI Director James Comey is under federal scrutiny — and not for mishandling an investigation or leaking memos this time, but for what appears to be an ominous social media post that many believe called for the assassination of President Trump.

On Friday afternoon, Comey is scheduled to be interviewed by the U.S. Secret Service at their Washington Field Office, according to CNN. The voluntary interview is part of a federal probe into a now-deleted Instagram post from Comey, which featured seashells arranged in the sand spelling out the numbers “86 47.” For anyone not fluent in leftist code, “86” is widely recognized as slang for “eliminate” or “kill,” and “47” refers to President Trump, who is currently serving as the 47th President of the United States.

In other words, not exactly subtle.

Comey captioned the post: “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.” But critics and investigators aren’t buying the folksy beachcomber act. When the backlash exploded online — with even CNN reporting that the numbers are associated with anti-Trump social media circles — Comey claimed ignorance. “I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence,” he wrote in a follow-up post. “I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down.”

Right. Just a total coincidence that the man who tried to take down Trump with a bogus Russia probe somehow stumbled across an assassination message spelled out in seashells and decided to post it without understanding its meaning. Sure.

Now the Secret Service is investigating whether Comey’s post was a genuine threat or an attempt to incite others. As CNN reported, “It is expected that Comey will be asked if he intended the message as a threat, or to inspire others who might consider an act of violence against Trump.” The final decision on potential charges will reportedly fall to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C.

But that’s not the only danger for Comey. If it turns out he did arrange the shells and then lied about it to federal investigators, he could face charges for making false statements — a crime with serious consequences. As attorney Ed Martin said on The Benny Johnson Show, “He knew… He’s got a problem. Perjury traps are next. Going to jail on one or the other.”

The man who once declared himself the defender of American democracy might now need a good defense lawyer.
