In what might be the most tone-deaf government statement of 2025 so far—and that’s saying something—the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) managed to spark nationwide outrage with their ridiculous reaction to President Trump’s strike on Iran’s nuclear sites.
Let me set the stage. On Saturday night, President Trump announced the United States had carried out a successful operation targeting three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. Using B-2 Bombers equipped with 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs, the U.S. military obliterated Iran’s underground nuclear facilities, specifically Fordow, which has been a thorn in the side of international security for years. Trump praised the mission, declaring it a victory for peace and a testament to American military might.
But while most Americans were applauding our troops for sending a strong message to Iran’s radical regime, the brain trust over at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department decided this was the perfect moment to virtue signal… for Iran.
Their now-deleted statement actually said, “Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by the recent bombings in Iran.” Victims? You mean the Iranian regime trying to build nukes and threaten the world? Apparently, the LASD thought a sympathetic message to Iran’s nuclear ambitions was a priority.
TREASON: The LA Sheriff takes the Iranian regime’s side in the destruction of its nuclear weapons program. You can’t make this up. https://t.co/41f27TIFsl pic.twitter.com/QzH4S1bh7M

The backlash came fast and furious, and rightfully so. Congressman Brandon Gill summed it up nicely with a simple “Excuse me?” while Tomi Lahren and thousands of others lit up social media, calling the statement “treason” and demanding accountability. Even some left-leaning voices were scratching their heads at how this managed to slip through the cracks.

The Sheriff’s Department quickly deleted the post and is now scrambling with damage control, saying the statement was “made in error” and “does not reflect the views of Sheriff Robert G. Luna.” They’ve launched an internal review to find out how this nonsense got posted. Translation: they’re looking for the woke staffer who thought mourning Iran’s nuclear program was good PR.

It’s another reminder of how deep the rot runs in Democrat-run cities like Los Angeles. While criminals flood the streets and law-abiding citizens fend for themselves, the priority for the Sheriff’s Department was expressing sympathy for Iran, not the safety of their own residents. Maybe they should focus more on law enforcement and less on playing international diplomats for terrorist regimes.
