For the first time in its 2,000-year history, the Roman Catholic Church has elected a pope from the United States. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, emerged from the conclave on Thursday as the 267th pontiff, ushering in what the corporate media is already labeling a “centrist” era for the Vatican.
But let’s not kid ourselves. A quick glance at Pope Leo XIV’s own social media history reveals a man far more aligned with the open-borders globalist left than with the traditional teachings of Church or country.
Before his elevation, Cardinal Prevost had already made headlines for throwing rhetorical stones at conservative leaders like Vice President J.D. Vance. Just earlier this year, he shared an article from the National Catholic Reporter—yes, that National Catholic Reporter—mocking Vance’s stance on putting Americans first. The headline? “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.” And that was just the start.
Ten days later, the future pope shared another piece slamming Vance’s defense of ordo amoris, the Christian doctrine that teaches love must be rightly ordered—first to God, then family, then community, and then humanity at large. Vance has often cited this teaching to explain why securing the U.S. border and defending American families is not just good policy, but moral.
Yet Pope Leo XIV disagrees. Loudly. He even went so far as to amplify a post that scolded both President Trump and El Salvador’s anti-cartel crusader Nayib Bukele for enforcing immigration laws. This is not your grandmother’s pope. This is a pope who seemingly believes that Christian charity means surrendering your national sovereignty, ignoring criminal infiltration, and blaming America for human suffering caused by cartels and corrupt regimes.
The Vice President, unsurprisingly, has not backed down. “We cannot be a nation without borders, and we cannot be a people without order,” Vance said last week. That’s not just a political line—it’s a reflection of timeless truth.
But now, the Vatican is at risk of becoming yet another outpost for progressive activism masquerading as compassion. Pope Leo XIV’s political activism—notably his endorsement of George Floyd tributes, DREAMer amnesty, and a Democrat senator’s call for more gun control—makes it clear that his papacy won’t steer clear of the culture wars.
Let’s be blunt: the Church just handed the microphone to someone who sees Trump and Vance as threats, not protectors. And millions of Catholics around the world—especially those who believe in law, order, and national identity—have reason to be deeply concerned.
