Yes, Bukele is offering to imprison convicted American criminals to help with what leftists call America’s “over-incarceration” problem.
“We can send them, and he will put them in his jails,” Rubio revealed. “And he’s also offered to do the same for dangerous criminals currently in custody and serving their sentences in the United States even though they’re U.S. citizens or legal residents.”
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce confirmed this deal is locked in and will be implemented immediately.
America’s Worst Criminals—Headed to Bukele’s Mega-Prison
Bukele, never one to back down from a challenge, took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the deal, announcing that America can “outsource part of its prison system” to El Salvador’s mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a small fee that will make the country’s prison system self-sustaining.
For those unfamiliar, CECOT is one of the most terrifying prisons in the world, built to house up to 40,000 of the most dangerous criminals.
