Linda Li, a high-profile Democratic fundraiser who once brought in over $1 billion for the party, is officially done with the Democrats. Her departure comes after weeks of backlash from her own party for daring to criticize Kamala Harris and what she called the “$1 billion disaster” of the Democrats’ failed 2024 campaign. Now, Li is leaving the party she helped bankroll, calling it a “cult” incapable of handling dissent or accountability.
Li’s criticism of Harris, the party’s presidential nominee, sparked outrage among Democrats. On “Fox & Friends,” she didn’t hold back, questioning how Harris’s campaign managed to burn through $1 billion while ending up $20 million in debt. “This is just an epic disaster,” Li said. “I have friends I have to be accountable to and explain what happened because I told them it was a margin-of-error race.” Her comments didn’t just ruffle feathers—they detonated a backlash campaign against her, complete with personal attacks and calls for boycotts.
Speaking to Piers Morgan, Li revealed the extent of the vitriol. She was called slurs, labeled a “communist spy,” and accused of betraying the party. As a Chinese-American, the “spy” accusation hit particularly hard, given her family’s history of suffering under the Chinese regime. “These are the people who call themselves social justice warriors,” Li said, “but they’re diving headfirst into racism anytime someone disagrees with them.”
"Leaving the Democratic Party is like leaving a cult!"
Lindy Li tells Piers Morgan she's lost 40,000 followers and been called a "wh*re" and a "C-word" in the past four days.

Li’s criticisms of Harris also struck a nerve. She accused Harris of “indulging in delusions” about her political future and said the Democrats’ refusal to tolerate dissent is driving people like her away. “All these so-called Democrats, the party of inclusion, the party of diversity—masks off,” Li said. “They pretend to occupy the moral high ground, but the second you question them, you’re ostracized.”
Her donors, too, are furious. “It’s my responsibility to ask what the hell happened with their money,” Li explained. But asking questions, she says, is verboten in the Democratic Party. “Leaving the Democratic Party is like leaving a cult,” she added. “They’re accelerating my rightward shift.”
Li’s parting shot was clear: the Democrats’ intolerance and refusal to take accountability aren’t just bad optics—they’re a losing strategy. And for the party that supposedly champions diversity and inclusion, Li’s story is a brutal indictment of its hypocrisy.
