Jen Psaki, former White House Press Secretary and now full-time Biden apologist on MSNBC, wants you to believe she had no idea Joe Biden was in mental decline—until the rest of America saw it live during his disastrous debate performance in the spring of 2024. In an interview with Semafor’s Ben Smith, Psaki tried to distance herself from the growing scandal by saying, essentially, “I didn’t see a thing.”
“I never saw that person—not a single time, and I was in the Oval Office every day,” Psaki claimed, referring to the vacant, confused version of Biden that appeared on that debate stage. The problem? Millions of Americans saw exactly that version of Biden—long before June 2024. Stumbling over sentences, freezing mid-sentence, and bizarrely whispering into microphones had already become hallmarks of Biden’s public appearances by then. But Psaki insists it was all news to her.
To make things even more insulting to the public’s intelligence, Psaki bristled at the suggestion of a “cover-up” when Smith used the term. “It’s a very loaded term,” she huffed, saying it’s more appropriate for things like Watergate or war scandals—not, apparently, for hiding the declining mental health of the sitting President of the United States.

But let’s be real here. Democrats spent years gaslighting the American people, swearing up and down that Biden was just fine—totally sharp and “vigorous.” If you dared to suggest otherwise, you were smeared as a conspiracy theorist or worse. And now, after that horrifying debate in which Biden couldn’t complete a sentence, the new party line is: We didn’t know! Aging just happens quickly!
Funny how that works.
The truth is that Biden’s decline was obvious to anyone paying attention. It was only after the public humiliation of the debate—and the political cost became unavoidable—that Democrats suddenly had an epiphany. Biden dropped out in July 2024 and threw his endorsement behind Kamala Harris, and the spin machine kicked into overdrive.
Psaki and the rest of the Biden inner circle can pretend they were blindsided all they want, but the American people know better. If it wasn’t a cover-up, it was the most convenient case of willful blindness in modern political history. Either way, it’s not a good look—and voters won’t forget it.
