GOP Senator Who Helped Push a Last Minute Hit Piece on Pete Hegseth

One Republican Senator just got caught playing dirty politics, and it’s not a good look. According to a Wall Street Journal bombshell, North Carolina senator Thom Tillis was actively working behind the scenes to torpedo President Trump’s Defense Secretary nominee, Pete Hegseth. And how did he try to do it? By helping Hegseth’s former sister-in-law push last-minute abuse allegations in a blatant eleventh-hour smear campaign.

Just days before Hegseth’s confirmation vote, senators received an affidavit from Danielle Hegseth—Pete Hegseth’s former sister-in-law—claiming instances of “abuse” against his second wife, Samantha Hegseth. But here’s the kicker: Samantha herself completely shut down the allegations. In an email response to NBC News, she stated, “There was no physical abuse in my marriage.” She also made it clear she never authorized anyone to speak on her behalf and had no intention of discussing her past marriage.

Despite this, Tillis was working overtime to weaponize the accusations, reportedly telling Danielle Hegseth that her sworn statement could flip three Republican senators: himself, Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME). Later, reports suggested Mitch McConnell was also among those Tillis thought he could sway.

For a moment, it seemed like the plan might work. As the Senate prepared for a late-night confirmation vote last Friday, Tillis suddenly waffled on his support, despite previously saying he would vote “yes.” If Tillis defected alongside Murkowski, Collins, and McConnell, Hegseth’s nomination could have gone down in flames.

But when it finally came time to vote, Tillis folded and voted to confirm Hegseth. Murkowski, Collins, and McConnell still voted no, forcing Vice President JD Vance to break the tie and secure Hegseth’s confirmation.

So why did Tillis go through all this trouble if he was going to vote “yes” in the end? Simple: he wanted to cause chaos. He wanted to weaken Trump’s nominee, stir up scandal, and potentially gain favor with the establishment wing of the party.

This isn’t the first time Tillis has played games with Trump’s agenda, and it likely won’t be the last. But now he’s been exposed as a saboteur working in the shadows, and the America First movement will remember.

Tillis might have thought he could play both sides, but his actions prove he’s just another swamp creature trying to undermine the Trump administration from within. Time to primary this guy.
