Four House Democrats landed in El Salvador this week, not to address the border crisis, not to stand up for American victims of violent crime, but to visit and advocate for none other than Kilmar Abrego Garcia—an illegal alien and suspected MS-13 gang member currently imprisoned in El Salvador.
According to a glowing press release (because of course there was one), Reps. Robert Garcia (CA), Maxwell Frost (FL), Yassamin Ansari (AZ), and Maxine Dexter (OR) made the trip to El Salvador to “pressure the Trump Administration” to follow a Supreme Court order and facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return to the United States.
That’s right—these lawmakers aren’t fighting for border security, or justice for American crime victims like Laken Riley or Rachel Morin. They’re flying overseas to plead for a guy accused of gang ties, domestic abuse, and illegal entry into the U.S.
Garcia and his entourage described Abrego Garcia—who has been credibly linked to the ultra-violent Tren de Aragua criminal syndicate—as “a Maryland man with protected legal status.” Never mind that he’s a foreign national with an alleged history of violence and MS-13 connections. The left is trying to rebrand him as some kind of DACA-esque folk hero.
This absurd PR stunt comes on the heels of Senator Chris Van Hollen’s failed attempt last week to meet with the same criminal. After being denied entry twice by El Salvadorian officials, Van Hollen finally got his photo op, sipping margaritas with the alleged gang member and calling it a victory for “due process.” You truly can’t make this stuff up.
The Trump White House wasted no time responding. The Department of Homeland Security posted a scorcher on X:
Four more U.S. lawmakers just landed in El Salvador to meet and shake hands with a terrorist. ⁰⁰All four of them voted against the Laken Riley Act. ⁰⁰Why are these politicians putting terrorists illegally in our country over American victims? https://t.co/n4qj1pRUJC

It’s a question every voter should be asking.
Thankfully, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) confirmed that no taxpayer dollars are funding this nonsense. Unlike Van Hollen’s little junket, these four radicals had to pony up their own money to fly across the globe and grovel before a suspected terrorist.
The Democratic Party’s priorities are on full display—and they couldn’t be more disgraceful.
