Dem Congressman Reveals Plot to Form Shadow Government to Undermine Trump Cabinet

Democrats in Washington seem to be ditching any pretense of accepting the 2024 election results, openly plotting a so-called “shadow government” designed to counteract President-elect Donald Trump’s new administration. In a shocking twist, rather than hiding their intentions as they did during Trump’s first term, Democratic lawmakers are now laying out their plans for an organized effort to undermine the incoming administration from the start.

A disturbing video, posted by Independent Journalist Kyle Becker, shows Rep. Wiley Nickel (D-NC) speaking on the House floor, outlining a list of prominent Democrats who could act as unofficial “shadow” cabinet members. Nickel’s bold strategy appears to be an unprecedented move to defy the Trump administration’s authority openly.

Among Nickel’s suggestions for this shadow government, incoming Senator Adam Schiff was floated as a potential shadow Attorney General. The idea here is that if Trump’s pick, Matt Gaetz, begins what Democrats fear will be a politically motivated crackdown at the Department of Justice, Schiff would take on a vocal public role to challenge and “shadow” his decisions. “If Trump attempts to weaponize the Department of Justice against his political opponents with Matt Gaetz at the helm, we could see incoming Senator Adam Schiff as our Attorney General,” Nickel suggested.

Nickel’s plans don’t stop there. He also mentioned Congresswoman Jahana Hayes as a potential shadow Secretary of Education. Hayes, a former Teacher of the Year, would ostensibly push back against any attempts by the Trump administration to scale back or eliminate the Department of Education. “If Trump seeks to dismantle the Department of Education, Jahana Hayes could step up to loudly defend public education in the United States,” Nickel said.

Perhaps the most startling proposal was for Congressman Gregory Meeks to serve as shadow Secretary of State. According to Nickel, Meeks would vocally oppose Trump’s foreign policy initiatives, particularly regarding Ukraine and Eastern Europe. “If Trump orders Marco Rubio to hand over Ukraine to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Congressman Meeks could be a strong voice in support of maintaining international relationships and protecting democracy,” Nickel declared.

Kyle Becker slammed the Democratic efforts in a fiery post, accusing them of attempting to lead an “unconstitutional insurrection” against President Trump. “House Democrats are denying the results of the 2024 election,” Becker wrote. “They are trying to form a ‘shadow government’ to defy and undermine President Trump’s authority.”

Nickel defended the idea in an interview with CNN’s Laura Coates, calling it “an idea whose time has come.” He argued that a shadow government would provide a necessary check on Trump’s agenda, which he claims is out of step with the American electorate.

But many see this move as further evidence of a Democratic Party out of touch with voters. Trump’s decisive win in 2024 was seen as a clear rejection of the current Democratic leadership, and these efforts to undermine the new administration are likely to deepen the public’s distrust. As Becker pointed out, “Therapy appears to be the only thing that will help these delusional Democrats understand that Americans no longer want to see them hold positions of power.”

With Trump preparing to take office and Democrats openly organizing their resistance, it’s clear that the next four years are going to be anything but business as usual. The battle lines have been drawn, and the fight over Trump’s agenda has already begun before he even sets foot back in the Oval Office.
