CNN Legal Analyst Debunks Democrat Claims: Trump’s Actions Are Constitutional!

In a surprising twist that likely left CNN’s liberal viewers clutching their pearls, CNN legal analyst Elie Honig dismissed claims that President Trump’s actions regarding the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and his bold border policies are unconstitutional. That’s right—even CNN had to admit the obvious: Trump is playing by the rules, whether the left likes it or not.

Appearing on CNN Monday, Honig—a former federal prosecutor—explained Trump’s strategic approach: “The strategy that Donald Trump has used here so far is he’s going to do what he wants first, and then he’s going to make plaintiffs, state attorneys general, or private citizens sue him in court. If they want to stop him from doing what he wants, they have to make him. So that’s definitely been a strategy by the president, but that’s not unconstitutional.”

Translation: Trump isn’t breaking the law. He’s simply using the power of the presidency as it was designed—boldly, decisively, and unapologetically.

Honig went even further, clarifying that the only time an action would cross into unconstitutional territory is if the executive branch defies a court order:

“Where it crosses a line is if he goes into court and a court says, ‘You’re not allowed to do this, I’m putting an injunction,’ and then if the president or the executive branch defies that, that’s where we get into real trouble.”

So far? That hasn’t happened.

Naturally, Democrats are throwing their usual tantrums over Trump’s immigration policies, his decision to declare a national emergency at the southern border, and DOGE’s efforts to cut through the bureaucratic mess in Washington. They’ve filed lawsuits faster than Hunter Biden can misplace a laptop, but legal challenges don’t make something unconstitutional—they just make it inconvenient for Democrats.

Honig even reminded his audience that the Supreme Court—yes, the one with the conservative justices Trump appointed—doesn’t rubber-stamp everything he does: “They have rejected Donald Trump at many key junctures.”

At the end of the day, Trump’s real crime—in the eyes of the left—is that he’s effective. He doesn’t waste time wringing his hands over whether MSNBC will approve. He takes action, and if the courts need to weigh in, so be it.

Bottom line: Trump’s actions are constitutional. The real issue is that Democrats just can’t handle it.
