Bill Maher Destroys Larry David’s Outrageous Trump Dinner Comparison

Credit where it’s due — Bill Maher, despite being a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, showed a rare ounce of courage by sitting down with President Trump recently. In today’s political climate, where merely breathing the same air as a Republican can get you canceled, Maher not only met with Trump, but then went on HBO and gave a refreshingly honest, even-handed take about it. Naturally, the modern left lost its collective mind.

Leading the meltdown parade was none other than Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld, who wrote a venom-filled New York Times op-ed titled “My Dinner With Adolf,” actually comparing Maher’s visit with Trump to having dinner with the dictator. Let that sink in. According to the modern progressive brain trust, having a conversation with the 45th president of the United States is now the same thing as breaking bread with Adolf Hitler himself.

Meanwhile, MSNBC’s own professional tantrum-thrower, Keith Olbermann, accused Maher of “prostituting himself” by meeting Trump. Because in leftist land, open conversation and basic decency are now sins against the progressive church. Scott Jennings nailed it when he said the point wasn’t really about punishing Maher — it was a warning shot to everyone else. The left doesn’t just want to cancel Bill Maher; they want to terrify anyone else who might even think about treating a conservative like a human being.

This isn’t about dinner. It’s about control. It’s about ensuring no one on their side ever dares to break rank or talk across the aisle. Torch one person in public, and you make an example of them to keep the rest obedient. It’s the oldest playbook in authoritarian history.

For all his flaws, Maher still understands the value of free speech and dialogue, even if his politics are wrong most of the time. And frankly, it’s pathetic that standing up for basic conversation makes you a rebel in today’s Democrat Party.

Good for Maher. As for Larry David and the rest of the thought police — maybe it’s time to learn that conversation isn’t treason. It’s still America, whether they like it or not.
