Joe Biden is once again leveraging a tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, to push his agenda on restricting firearm ownership, raising eyebrows over his hypocrisy. The incident, which resulted in three lives lost, including the suspected juvenile perpetrator, and six others injured, has Biden calling for universal background checks, a national red flag law, and bans on so-called “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines.
“We need Congress to act. Now. From Newtown to Uvalde, Parkland to Madison, to so many other shootings that don’t receive attention — it is unacceptable that we are unable to protect our children from this scourge of gun violence,” Biden said in a statement. He continued, “We cannot continue to accept it as normal. Every child deserves to feel safe in their classroom.”
However, Biden’s calls for stricter measures come just weeks after he pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, for federal offenses involving a firearm. Hunter had lied on a federal application and disposed of a firearm in a way that violated multiple laws, yet he faced no consequences. This glaring inconsistency has not gone unnoticed and casts doubt on the president’s sincerity when it comes to enforcing laws fairly.
Social media users were quick to highlight the contradictions. “How can Biden call for gun control when his own son got away with breaking federal gun laws?” one person asked. Another pointed out, “The rules only apply to us peasants, not to the elites and their families.”
HE LITERALLY JUST PARDONED HIS SON FOR GUN CRIMES! https://t.co/IpGvieaSAI

Critics have also noted how selectively these tragedies are politicized. When UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally attacked earlier this year, there was no widespread demand for new laws or national outrage. Actress Justine Bateman even remarked on the lack of consistency in how such events are addressed, questioning why some spark immediate political calls to action while others are ignored.
The incident at Abundant Life Christian School is devastating, and no one disputes the importance of keeping children safe. However, Biden’s decision to use such tragedies to further his political goals, while shielding his own family from the consequences of breaking existing laws, underscores a troubling double standard. For Americans who abide by the rules, this inconsistency sends a clear message: the real issue isn’t public safety but selective enforcement of the law.
