Biden Rages at Garland for Not Taking Down Trump Sooner

As President Trump prepares to return to the White House, calls for accountability in the Department of Justice are growing louder. The Biden administration’s alleged weaponization of the DOJ to target political opponents has become a focal point for Trump allies, who demand a special prosecutor investigate potential abuses of power.

Recent reports from The Washington Post reveal that Joe Biden is privately seething over what he perceives as Attorney General Merrick Garland’s failure to take aggressive action against Trump. Biden reportedly regrets appointing Garland, blaming him for both the delayed prosecution of Trump and the DOJ’s willingness to investigate his son, Hunter Biden. This comes against the backdrop of Garland’s appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith in November 2022, just days after Trump announced his 2024 campaign.

Smith’s cases against Trump—one related to presidential records stored at Mar-a-Lago and another concerning January 6 charges—fell apart after the Supreme Court ruled that U.S. presidents are immune from prosecution for “official acts.” Biden’s frustration reportedly stems from the timing of these prosecutions, believing a faster process might have politically damaged Trump before the election.

The revelations of Biden’s dissatisfaction underscore the need for Trump’s incoming Attorney General to restore trust in the DOJ. Critics argue that Garland’s tenure has left the department mired in accusations of bias, particularly with the handling of Hunter Biden’s legal troubles compared to the aggressive pursuit of Trump. The appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the Biden administration’s alleged weaponization of the DOJ would send a strong message about accountability.

Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project and a former clerk for Justice Neil Gorsuch, has highlighted the gravity of these allegations. “Conspiracy against rights (18 U.S.C. § 241) is a very serious federal felony,” Davis noted, referencing concerns that DOJ actions may have violated constitutional protections.

For Trump supporters, the idea of an independent investigation isn’t just about retribution—it’s about ensuring the equal application of justice. The DOJ’s actions during Biden’s tenure have raised serious questions about whether it was used as a political weapon, a claim that must be thoroughly examined to restore public confidence.

As Trump re-enters office, appointing a principled Attorney General who will prioritize justice over politics is critical. A special prosecutor would be the first step toward exposing and rectifying any wrongdoing within the Biden-era DOJ, ensuring the department serves the people—not political interests.
