Alex Jones Makes Announcement on the Future of Infowars

Infowars, the controversial media website run by Alex Jones, could be facing its final days. Jones announced on his show Monday that Infowars is set to be auctioned off this Wednesday as part of a $1.5 billion settlement in the lawsuit brought against him by families of the Sandy Hook victims. The impending auction has raised speculation about the future of the site, with some hoping to rescue it from closure.

“This could be the end of Infowars as we know it,” Jones said, visibly emotional. He explained that auctioneers were already at his studio, cataloging equipment and assets. “On Wednesday afternoon, Infowars, the equipment, Infowars.com, InfowarsStore.com, and a whole bunch of other stuff, is at a federal bankruptcy auction,” Jones told his audience. He went on to describe the legal battles he’s faced as a “rigged trial” and likened the proceedings to “show trials out of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany.”

The auction comes after years of legal turmoil for Jones. In 2022, he was ordered to pay $1.5 billion in damages to families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, following his repeated false claims that it was a hoax. The judgment has effectively bankrupted Jones, forcing him to liquidate his media empire.

Despite the grim outlook, there may still be hope for Infowars. Supporters of Jones, including some prominent right-wing figures, have expressed interest in acquiring the site’s assets. Longtime Trump ally Roger Stone is rumored to be among those considering a bid, leading to speculation that Infowars could remain operational if a sympathetic buyer takes control. “A lot of people want to save Infowars,” said political commentator Mario Nawfal, noting that there is significant interest from Jones’ allies who believe in his message and want to keep the platform alive.

On the other hand, progressive media groups opposed to Jones have also shown interest in the auction, likely hoping to shut down or repurpose the site. The outcome could be a defining moment for the future of alternative media, as Infowars has been a major player in the far-right media ecosystem for years.

The looming auction has left many of Jones’ supporters anxious. Infowars was a pioneer in the world of online conspiracy theory media, attracting millions of followers with its mix of sensationalist headlines, anti-establishment rhetoric, and unfiltered commentary. If the site is sold off to a hostile buyer, it could mean the end of an era.

For now, it remains to be seen who will walk away with Infowars’ assets. Whether the platform will be salvaged by a right-wing ally or dismantled by progressive critics is the question hanging in the air. As the auction date approaches, the fate of Alex Jones’ media empire is uncertain, but this could be the final chapter for Infowars.
