Parents Call for Boycott of Children’s YouTube Creator Over Pride Month Video

In a move that’s shaken the internet’s favorite children’s educator, Ms. Rachel, conservative parents are calling for a boycott over her latest Pride Month video. The beloved YouTube star, whose real name is Rachel Accurso, has taken a bold stand in celebrating Pride Month, and it’s caused quite the stir among her audience.

With nearly 10 million subscribers, Ms. Rachel has become a household name for toddlers and their parents, offering educational content that’s as entertaining as it is enlightening. But her recent video, posted on June 1st to kick off Pride Month, has sparked outrage among some conservative viewers.

“Happy pride to all of our wonderful families and friends! This month and every month, I celebrate you,” Accurso said in her video. She didn’t stop there. Anticipating the backlash, she added, “To those who are going to comment, they can’t watch this show anymore because of this support, no worries and much love your way. God bless. I am not chasing fame or views; I’m standing strong in love.”

And backlash she got. Conservative figures like Daily Wire host Matt Walsh were quick to respond. “This is a message to conservative parents,” Walsh posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). “She doesn’t want your business. You should respond accordingly.” Libs of TikTok weighed in too, urging parents to spread the word about Ms. Rachel’s stance.

Morgonn McMichael, a contributor for Turning Point USA, went even further, calling Ms. Rachel “sick” and questioning why someone who entertains children as young as three would push such messages. The debate hit a fever pitch when Bradley Brewer, a Christian conservative father, criticized Ms. Rachel for featuring Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender activist, on her platform.

This isn’t the first time Ms. Rachel has found herself at the center of a cultural firestorm. Last year, she took a “mental health break” after parents criticized her co-star, Jules Hoffman, for using they/them pronouns.

The controversy highlights a broader cultural clash over how topics like gender identity and LGBTQ+ rights should be presented to children. For many parents, Ms. Rachel’s inclusive message is a beacon of love and acceptance. For others, it’s a bridge too far, an inappropriate politicization of childhood innocence.

As the calls for boycott grow louder, Ms. Rachel remains steadfast. In her Instagram statement addressing the criticism, she reiterated her commitment to all children, saying, “I care deeply for all children… Not one is excluded. I think part of why people respond to the show is they feel that care—I see every child as I see my own.”

So, what’s next for Ms. Rachel? Will the boycott significantly impact her thriving channel, or will her message of inclusivity and love continue to resonate with the majority of her audience? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: Ms. Rachel is standing her ground, come what may.
