Ambassador Mike Huckabee is pushing back hard against Tucker Carlson’s claim that the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem ignored an American citizen allegedly attacked by Israeli settlers in Judea and Samaria. Huckabee called Carlson “deranged” and released a detailed timeline describing repeated efforts by embassy staff to make contact with the injured man and his family.
The dispute began on October 29, 2026, when Carlson posted video he described as “unreleased” and directly accused Huckabee of abandoning the alleged assault victim. Carlson wrote: “Ambassador Huckabee, this is unreleased video of an American who was beaten almost to death last week by Israeli settlers. You know his name because he came to you for help, but you blew him off. That’s disgraceful. Do your job.” He tagged Huckabee, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the White House.
Huckabee responded within hours with a lengthy thread. He wrote, “Please follow this entire thread. Tucker Carlson is deranged. He accuses me personally of ignoring a US citizen allegedly attacked in Judea/Samaria by Israelis & says I ‘blew him off.’ Tucker knows how to contact me, but he’d rather make unfounded accusations than get facts,” the ambassador wrote.
According to Huckabee, the Embassy’s American Citizen Services unit never spoke directly with the father, who was allegedly injured in Turmusaya. Instead, every contact went through the man’s son in Chicago. Huckabee said the son repeatedly insisted on being the sole point of contact and declined to provide direct phone numbers for his father or other relatives. That is a rather awkward paper trail for the claim that the embassy simply blew the family off.
On October 19, ACS received an email from the son alleging that his father had been attacked at his home in Turmusaya by settlers and was being treated at Istishari Hospital in Ramallah. Embassy staff called the son that day to request contact information for his father, but he was unwilling to provide it. Staff also sent a follow-up email.
On October 20, the embassy sent another email requesting direct contact information. The son asked for a call, but embassy staff called twice without receiving an answer. They also tried several times to reach the hospital in Ramallah, without success.
On October 21, the son reported that his father was undergoing surgery. Embassy staff spoke with him, and he said he would provide contact information for next of kin in the West Bank. Those numbers were never received. The son also said the family did not want to pursue the matter with local authorities and requested assurances that relatives traveling from the United States would not be denied entry.
On October 22, embassy staff spoke with the son again. In a follow-up email, he wrote: “Thank you for taking the time to speak with me and for your understanding regarding the tragic incident involving my father. Thank you again for your time, support, and assistance during this difficult time.” The embassy replied by requesting direct contact with the father or an uncle, along with local phone numbers. None were provided. Medical reports and photographs of the father’s wounds later came from the son, who also continued asking about travel and entry assurances for relatives.
On October 23, embassy staff called the hospital but could not reach the father. On October 26, they called the son in Chicago, received no answer, and left a message asking whether the brother and mother had arrived and requesting their contact numbers. No response or numbers followed.
The timeline does not resolve the underlying allegation of an assault. It does, however, directly challenge Carlson’s claim that the embassy ignored the family. Social-media accusations can be posted in seconds, but dated contact records are less cooperative when they tell a different story.
Huckabee ended his response with a blunt message to Carlson: “Tucker, you can apologize when you find your conscience & acknowledge the facts.”
