Well, Barack Obama just couldn’t help himself this Independence Day. Instead of celebrating America’s freedom, history, and exceptionalism like every patriotic citizen does on the Fourth of July, the former president decided to roll out yet another lecture on how flawed and broken the country supposedly is. You know, the usual hand-wringing and vague globalist buzzwords that have become Obama’s signature.
On Friday, while Americans fired up the grills, enjoyed fireworks, and honored the birth of the greatest nation on Earth, Obama dropped his latest “blame America first” message on social media. His post read like a TED Talk for the anti-American elite rather than an Independence Day message.
Here’s part of what he said: “Independence Day is a reminder that America is not the project of any one person. The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word ‘We.’ ‘We The People.’ ‘We Shall Overcome.’ ‘Yes We Can.’ America is owned by no one. It belongs to all citizens. And at this moment in history—when core democratic principles seem to be continuously under attack, when too many people around the world have become cynical and disengaged—now is precisely the time to ask ourselves tough questions about how we can build our democracies and make them work in meaningful and practical ways for ordinary people.”

Translation: America isn’t great, and instead of celebrating it, let’s dwell on our failures and doubts. Also, let’s casually toss in “We Shall Overcome,” a slogan rooted in the civil rights movement, to imply that the U.S. is still stuck in the 1960s.
The backlash was swift. Citizens across social media hammered Obama for turning Independence Day into yet another platform to push division, globalism, and his usual anti-American undertones. Many pointed out that while President Trump and other leaders proudly celebrated America’s strength and independence, Obama couldn’t resist inserting his typical narrative of victimhood and doubt.
A “core democratic principle” Barack Obama and his Administration consistently violated was the freedom of the press and free speech, which is why George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and theFounding Fathers enshrined that as the very First Amendment, “Whoever… https://t.co/sYCdatrhEX

The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word 'Republic.' 'The Republic for which it stands.' No, Obama can't. https://t.co/crOIEWT5EK

America was not founded as a "democracy".
It was founded as a "republic" and the most powerful word was "liberty", not "we". https://t.co/ezckiXFkiN

Nope. Independence Day is a celebration of the Americans who declared independence from Great Britain. Universalizing alleged lessons is a left-wing revolutionary project. https://t.co/vvj9qc31FZ

Obama thinks his "Yes We Can" is on par with "We The People." https://t.co/JJPpopqS9u pic.twitter.com/HVB7Slw1p5

What’s missing? Not one mention of freedom, liberty, the Founding Fathers, or the sacrifices of generations who made America the most prosperous and free nation in world history. Instead, it’s the same tired messaging about “democracy under attack,” which we all know is code for criticizing anyone who doesn’t fall in line with the left’s agenda.
Obama had eight years to push his version of “hope and change,” and judging by the state of things, Americans have seen enough. Maybe next year, he can take a day off from undermining the country and just enjoy the fireworks like the rest of us.
