Top Fox Host Under Fire After Taking a Jab at President Trump

It’s not every day that a Fox News host picks a fight with President Trump and his own audience, but here we are. Brian Kilmeade, a long-time personality on the conservative network, took to X (formerly Twitter) to scold his followers for backing Trump’s approach to the Ukraine-Russia war. The result? A complete online meltdown, with conservatives roasting Kilmeade for his outdated, neocon take on foreign policy.

Kilmeade’s tweet read like a throwback to 2003:

“Can we all remember @KremlinRussia_E is the bad guy- they invaded – they kidnap kids – Whatever happens – Ukraine can not lose – eastern Europe will be next.”

Oh boy. Where do we even start?

First, Trump has never denied that Putin was the aggressor in 2022. But here’s the thing: recognizing that Putin started the war does not mean America should be writing endless blank checks to Ukraine, especially when our own country is facing a border crisis, soaring inflation, and a $36 trillion debt. That’s the fundamental reality Kilmeade—and his dwindling supporters—just don’t seem to grasp.

And as many X users quickly pointed out, the idea that Russia is about to steamroll through all of Eastern Europe is pure fantasy. After three years of fighting, Putin’s military is depleted, reliant on conscripts, prisoners, and even North Korean troops. Yet somehow, we’re supposed to believe that he’s one step away from invading NATO countries?

Even Trump’s critics acknowledge that Ukraine is not getting back all of its lost territory. Trump’s own Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, has said as much. But here’s the real kicker: after Trump paused all U.S. aid to Ukraine, the Kremlin called the decision “probably the best contribution to peace.” In other words, even Russia sees that cutting off the money train forces Ukraine to the negotiating table.

But legacy Republicans—the ones who still think it’s 1985 and that every conflict is a sequel to the Cold War—are backing Kilmeade. Meanwhile, the American people? Not so much.

Polling shows that 72% of Americans now say Ukraine should negotiate peace with Russia rather than fight on indefinitely. The public is tired of endless wars, of taxpayer money disappearing into the black hole of overseas conflicts, and of Washington insiders pretending that sending another $60 billion will magically turn the tide.

Kilmeade might still be stuck in the Bush-Cheney era, but the Republican base has moved on. And they’re making it very clear that America First means America First—not Ukraine, not NATO, and definitely not another forever war.
