Ron DeSantis Under Fire for Defying Trump

Oh, Ron. What are you doing? Once upon a time, Governor Ron DeSantis was the golden boy of the conservative movement. He took on the woke mob, crushed the pandemic-era tyrants, and turned Florida into a red-state paradise. But ever since his ill-fated run against President Trump, he’s been making one political misstep after another. And now, he’s decided to take a swipe at Trump’s endorsement of Congressman Byron Donalds for Florida governor in 2026.

Big mistake.

Let’s be honest—Trump’s endorsement is the golden ticket in Republican politics. If he backs you, you win. Just ask all the candidates who went from nobodies to political powerhouses overnight thanks to the MAGA movement. So when Trump enthusiastically called Donalds a “TOTAL WINNER” on Truth Social, it was a massive deal. But instead of embracing it, DeSantis basically rolled his eyes and dismissed the idea.

“My view is, Donald Trump just got into office. I want these congressmen focused on enacting his agenda,” DeSantis said. Translation: Donalds should stay in DC and not try to take my job.

DeSantis then went even further, throwing subtle shade at Donalds by pointing out that he “hasn’t been a part of any of the victories that we’ve had here over the left.” Really, Ron? Because last time I checked, Donalds has been one of Trump’s strongest defenders on everything from immigration to the economy. Unlike DeSantis—who couldn’t even make it through one primary without burning bridges—Donalds has remained loyal to the America First movement.

And let’s not ignore the real problem here: DeSantis is clearly threatened by Donalds. Instead of saying, “Great, let’s get another America First conservative to carry on our success in Florida,” he’s trying to downplay Trump’s endorsement and keep the MAGA base from getting too excited. Sorry, Ron, but that ship has sailed.

What’s even more revealing is DeSantis hinting that he wants a say in Florida’s next leader. “We’re going to be looking to have somebody that’s going to be able to continue and build off the success that we’ve had here in Florida,” he said. Sounds an awful lot like someone who still wants control, even after he’s gone.

But here’s the reality: Trump’s influence in Florida is massive. If Donalds runs, he’ll be the frontrunner the second he announces. And if DeSantis keeps picking fights with MAGA, he might just find himself on the outside looking in.
