President Trump made waves Sunday night with a major announcement on Truth Social: former ICE Director Tom Homan will be the new “Border Czar,” tasked with overseeing all aspects of U.S. border security and immigration enforcement. Homan, a fierce advocate for tough border policies, will be responsible for securing not just the Southern Border but also the Northern Border, as well as handling maritime and aviation security.
In his post, Trump praised Homan’s extensive experience and hardline stance on immigration. “I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’),” Trump wrote. “I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.”
Homan wasted no time setting the tone for his new role, appearing on Fox & Friends Monday morning to lay out his plans and deliver a stern warning to Democrat governors who have vowed to resist federal immigration enforcement. Homan announced that workplace immigration raids will be a key part of his strategy, pointing to the connection between illegal labor practices and human trafficking. “Where do we find most victims of sex trafficking and forced labor trafficking? At worksites,” Homan explained, underscoring the need for aggressive action.
Homan didn’t mince words when addressing opposition from state leaders. “I’ve seen some of these Democrat governors say they’re going to stand in the way [of deportations] and make it hard for us,” Homan said. “A suggestion: If you’re not going to help us, get the hell out of the way because we’re going to do it.” It was a clear message that the new administration won’t tolerate interference in its efforts to enforce immigration laws.

Homan’s no-nonsense approach has already made headlines. In a recent interview on 60 Minutes, he shut down concerns about family separations during mass deportations. “Of course there is a way to do it without separating families,” Homan said, leaving the anchor momentarily speechless. “Families can be deported together,” he added in a mic drop moment that echoed his straightforward, uncompromising style.
With Homan at the helm as Border Czar, the Trump administration appears ready to take a dramatically different approach to immigration than what we’ve seen under Biden. The focus will be on enforcement, security, and a crackdown on illegal entry—sending a strong signal that America’s borders are about to get a lot tougher. For Trump’s supporters, this appointment is a long-awaited return to the strong border policies that defined his first term. For opponents, it’s a sign that the battles over immigration enforcement are just beginning.
