In a fiery display of conviction, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took aim at the mainstream media’s portrayal of the events surrounding the Capitol breach on January 6th. With her characteristic candidness and assertiveness, Greene questioned the media’s double standards and challenged their integrity.
Greene took aim at the media’s narrative surrounding the events of January 6th. With her signature no-nonsense style, she asked the assembled press, “When President Trump was inaugurated, Antifa and leftist rioters nearly burned down Washington DC. Did you call it an insurrection? No.”
She didn’t stop there. Greene went on to contrast the lack of the term “insurrection” for the violent episodes of 2020 with its application to the January 6th Capitol breach. She said, “BLM raised millions of dollars on the ActBlue Democrat fundraising website, and then proceeded to cause $2 billion in damages across American cities and communities. Did you in the media call it an insurrection? No, you did not!”
Greene’s critique of the media didn’t end with their coverage of protests and riots. She also called them out for their silence on the treatment of those arrested in connection with January 6th. “Matthew Graves, the U.S. attorney at the Department of Justice, is arresting people every single day, throwing them in jail, held them for 22 hours in solitary confinement, unconvicted… Shame on you,” she exclaimed.
But the Georgia representative wasn’t just on the offensive. She also voiced strong support for Trump, praising his call for peace and integrity in elections. “He said, go in peace. God bless President Trump… Americans do care about our elections and we have every single right to care,” she affirmed.

Greene’s comments come on the heels of a federal court ruling that Trump is not immune from prosecution for actions taken while serving in office. This sets up a potential showdown between Trump and the Biden Justice Department. Trump, however, maintains his innocence and insists both cases are part of a “witch hunt” orchestrated by Joe Biden and his allies.
